DENPASAR - The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has handed over two units of wood chippers or wood shredders to shred waste wood from beaches in Badung Regency, Bali.
"Let's work hard, today we can't do much to help Denpasar and Badung, through the Governor we will provide tools to do tree counting or trunks that are not Bali garbage," said Minister of LH Hanif Faisol Nurofiqdi on the sidelines of Korve Bersih Sampah at Jimbaran Beach, Badung, Thursday, March 5 as reported by ANTARA.
The Minister of LH conveyed that the waste sent to the beach was actually not the responsibility of the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) or the Badung Regency Government (Pemkab).
The garbage is the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment (KLH), but until now the annual problem has not been resolved.
"We apologize that the garbage that comes by sea is actually the responsibility of the Minister of LH. For this we apologize, we have not been able to overcome it to this day. So we put this tool to motivate us, don't look at the price but this is a collaboration between the center, province, and district government," said Minister of LH HanifFaisolNurifiq.
The Regent of Badung I Wayan Adi Arnawaber thanked the assistance because until now wood and bamboo waste are types of waste that come in a lot and are difficult to handle because of their large size.
"Later it will be faster to handle on the beaches, because so far these woods are a lot of garbage. With the wood crusher machine now, at least it will make it easier for us," he said.
The Badung Regency Government plans to buy another wood crusher to further support the acceleration of handling incoming garbage on the beach.
"We are ready again because we have Kedonganan Beach, Jimbaran. This Kedonganan goes to Cemagi, right, then there will be an addition from the regency," said Regent Adi.
Acting Head of the Badung Environmental and Sanitation Service (DLHK) Made Rai Warastuthi added that currently the total waste sent to the beach in Badung Regency is 4,800 tons since the end of last year.
This number increased by 20 percent from the previous year with wood and bamboo tree waste being the dominant type of waste this year.
With the presence of the KLH assistance machine, the Badung Regency Government plans to place this device on a rotating basis from beach to beach.
"Yes, later on, where there is a lot of wood waste, we bring it. So later it will be easier to transport, the amount of waste is small, usually people can ask or if not we can burn it in the incinerator," he said.
