JAKARTA - The insistence on removing the head of the Tangerang Class IIA Youth Prison, Yogi Suhara, A.Md.IP., has strengthened after the police dismantled the circulation of 18.44 grams of methamphetamine, 96 ecstasy pills, and 11.49 grams of synthetic tobacco in the residents' living block.

The Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, asked that the Tangerang Class IIA Kalapas be removed from his position and investigated by law enforcement and the internal inspectorate of the Ministry of Immigration and Correction.

In his statement to reporters, Tuesday (3/3/2026), Sugeng stated that his party supported the steps of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections in dismantling the drug network within the correctional institution.

"I suspect that this operation is known, even ordered directly by the Minister of Immigration and Corrections with the involvement of the police. Without the encouragement of the minister, it is almost impossible for the police to penetrate the prison," he said.

Sugeng assessed that the disclosure was a signal of the government's seriousness in cleaning the prison from drug trafficking. However, he emphasized that the responsibility of the leadership must still be upheld.

"The head of the police must be removed and investigated. In addition to the police narcotics unit, it is also supervised by the internal supervisory unit or the ministry's inspectorate," he said.

Previously, the Directorate General of Corrections through the Directorate of Security and Intelligence conducted a sudden inspection and a thorough inspection at the Tangerang Youth Prison. Head of the Sub Directorate of Corrections Cooperation, Rika Aprianti, stated that the inspection not only targeted field officers, but also leadership elements, including the Head of the Prison and the KPLP.

"All parties who have responsibilities will be questioned. This is part of internal clarification to ensure accountability runs according to rules," he said.

The Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, previously emphasized that the disclosure of this case should not stop at arrest alone. He ensured that he would conduct an internal evaluation and coordinate with the National Police to dismantle the network to the root.

"We evaluate internally and coordinate for the development of the fingerprint process. It must not stop here," he said.

This case began with information from prison officers who found prohibited items in one of the inmates' rooms on Friday (27/2/2026) at around 22.30 WIB. The report was then followed up by the Narcotics Unit of the Tangerang City Metro Police.

Two men with initials JI (25) and MFI (22) who are known to be students were secured for intensive examination. From JI's hand, the police confiscated 18.44 grams of methamphetamine, 96 ecstasy pills, and 26.56 grams of synthetic tobacco seeds. Meanwhile, from MFI, 11.49 grams of synthetic tobacco were found.

The temporary official of the Kasat Resnarkoba, Kompol Arnold Julius Simanjuntak, said his party was still investigating the origin of the illegal goods and the possibility of a wider network.

"Both are still being investigated to trace the source of the goods and the potential involvement of other parties," he said.
