JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo highlighted the importance of normalizing river estuaries and drainage systems along the West Pantura route, including the Citarum, Ciliwung, and Cisadane rivers.

"Road repairs will certainly be in vain if the drainage is clogged and the estuary is dredged which triggers flash floods or puddles when it rains," said Dody in Karawang, West Java on Saturday.

According to him, this is to prevent puddles and flash floods that can accelerate road damage.

"If the flood is wide open and the water flows fast, the sediment will be thrown into the sea. We have prepared pumps at flood-prone points and built a joint post between the road team and the water team so that if there are puddles, we can immediately throw them away," he said.

Dody ensured that all levels in the PU Ministry would be fully on standby during the homecoming period to ensure that road conditions remained safe and functional.

In addition, he also invited the public to help maintain the cleanliness of drainage channels in their respective neighborhoods so as not to hinder the flow of water.

"Our task (Ministry of PU), is to ensure that the roads in West Pantura are safe, safe, and enjoyable for the community," said Dody.
