Four Vehicles Involved in a Chain Reaction Accident in Buahbatu Bandung, 2 People Injured

BANDUNG - Four vehicles were involved in a traffic accident in a row at the Jalan Buahbatu intersection, Batununggal Village, Bandung Kidul District, Bandung City, on Thursday around 01.00 WIB.

Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Polrestabes Bandung AKP Fiekry Adi Perdana said the incident began when three vehicles in front stopped at a traffic light.

"It is suspected that the box truck coming from the same direction was driving quite fast and was not concentrating enough to hit the vehicle in front of it and trigger a series of collisions," said Fiekry as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 26.

He said the accident involved an Isuzu tronton truck, a Suzuki Carry minibus, a Mitsubishi Fuso truck, and an Isuzu box truck.

As a result of the incident, two people were injured, namely a minibus passenger and a box truck driver.

"Both were then rushed to Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung City, for treatment.

The police confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident. However, the material losses due to the accident are estimated to reach around IDR 50 million.

Fiekry said based on the results of the crime scene investigation and witness statements, the driver of the box truck was suspected of being exhausted or sleep-deprived while driving.

"The driver of the box truck while driving on public roads drove his vehicle in an unnatural way and was suspected of having a microsleep," he said.
