JAKARTA - Police have uncovered a number of suspicious findings from a black Toyota Calya car that drove slowly against the flow and hit several vehicles in the Jalan Gunung Sahari area on Wednesday (25/2/2026). From inside the vehicle, officers found several different number plates, sharp weapons, and toy guns.

Director of Traffic of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Komarudin, said that the results of the initial examination found four pairs of different vehicle number plates.

"From our findings, there were three pairs of license plates in the car, plus one plate attached to the vehicle. So a total of four different plates. In addition, we also found two sharp weapons and one toy gun," he said when contacted by the media, Thursday (26/2/2026).

Komarudin explained that the driver's reckless action was recorded on the police patrol camera. The vehicle was known to be against the flow on three roads, namely Jalan Gunung Sahari 5, then on Jalan Budi Utomo from the direction of Pasar Baru, and then re-entered Jalan Gunung Sahari Raya towards Ancol.

Along the route, the perpetrator's car had hit a number of other vehicles. As a result of the incident, two people were lightly injured. Both have received medical treatment and have been allowed to go home.

"Material losses occurred on several vehicles that were hit. This can also be seen from the dashcam footage of our patrol car," he said.

In addition to the driver, the police also examined a woman who was in the car during the incident. However, the woman did not carry any identification, so the examination process was delegated to the Criminal Investigation Officer.

Based on the provisional confession, the driver and his passengers admitted that they departed from Karawang with the intention of traveling to Ancol.

"The Criminal Investigation Unit will investigate a number of criminal elements that have been seen, including alleged forgery. We will also examine the possibility of other violations related to the items found," said Komarudin.

Currently, the driver of the Calya car has been named a suspect in the traffic accident case. Initially, the person concerned was only recorded as a traffic violator, but his status increased after his actions caused an accident.

"At first it was a traffic violation, now its status is a suspect in the accident case," he explained.

The police arrested the suspect under Article 311 paragraphs (1), (2), and (3) of the Traffic Law for driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers other road users. This article includes legal consequences for material losses to the extent that there are injured victims.
