Angkot Ngetem to Lompat Pagar Residents, Pramono Will Manage the Market-Palmerah Station

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlighted the condition of the Palmerah area, which was considered still chaotic, especially around the Palmerah Market and Palmerah Station. A thorough arrangement is said to be carried out immediately.

Pramono realized that congestion is often unavoidable in the Palmerah area. This is due to the many city transportation (angkot) that stop in front of the market and the station because they wait until the passengers are full.

Another issue in Palmerah is the pedestrian access to the station which has not been arranged. In fact, there are still residents who have to jump over the fence to get to the station area.

"In Palmerah, people who go to the station have to jump over the fence," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, February 23.

Pramono explained that the arrangement of the Palmerah area would be carried out as a renovation at Cikini Station, including the construction of a direct crossing facility to the station door which is safer and orderly.

"What we did in Cikini, we solved the problem by building a new road. And for Palmerah, we will do the same," he said.

Pramono admitted that he had asked the Transportation Service to immediately follow up on the plan. However, this arrangement must involve cooperation with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) as the station manager.

"Including traders, later if it can be done then people can't, especially angkot and so on, be careless," said Pramono.
