JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung again responded to complaints from residents regarding the existence of padel courts in densely populated residential areas. The complaints received were mostly related to noise during the game until late at night.
Pramono emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government would regulate the operating hours of the sports facilities so as not to disturb the surrounding residents.
"So, we will regulate crowded places for the hours of use," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, February 23.
He admitted that he had received various complaints directly from the public from a number of regions. The existence of a padel court adjacent to residents' homes is considered to cause interference, especially at night.
"I also received reports from various places, for example in Haji Nawi, in Cilandak, then in Rawamangun and so on about this padel which received objections from the community. I am sure that if the community around the padel objects, it will definitely be very disturbed," he said.
"There are even those whose babies are one and a half years old, they can't sleep because at night people are still screaming to play padel, I think it's not fair," continued Pramono.
To follow up on this issue, the DKI Provincial Government will hold a special meeting at the City Hall. The meeting will discuss aspects of licensing and supervision of padel field operations in residential areas.
The DKI Provincial Government is open to evaluating operational permits, including restrictions on playing hours in densely populated areas so that sports activities can continue without sacrificing the comfort of surrounding residents.
"I have asked those who have given permits and also coordinated for this padel to prepare," concluded Pramono.
