Pay Zakat Fitrah, Residents Asked to Use Official Channels

PANAJAM - The people of North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, are urged to immediately pay zakat fitrah at official institutions so that distribution to people who are entitled to receive zakat (mustahik) can be done optimally.

"The schedule for paying zakat fitrah until before Eid al-Fitr prayers," said Head of the Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of North Penajam Paser Regency, Muhammad Syahrir, quoted by Antara Sunday, February 22 when asked about the payment of zakat fitrah in Penajam.

However, the public is asked to pay zakat fitrah as soon as possible, so that the distribution is maximum and the recipients can feel the benefits or can use it during Lebaran.

A number of places to pay zakat fitrah have also been determined, so that the public can easily make payments, including the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) which was determined through a decision letter from the Regent of North Penajam Paser at mosques.

"Residents who want to pay zakat fitrah are urged to do so through official institutions, semi-government institutions, and zakat collection units at mosques," he said.

"The amount of zakat fitrah that is handed over in the form of money, the value is adjusted to the type of rice consumed daily," he said, with the calculation of the value of rice weighing 2.5 kilograms.

The Office of the Ministry of Religion of North Penajam Paser Regency has determined that zakat fitrah in 2025 can be paid using rice weighing 2.5 kilograms and with money according to the price of rice consumed by the concerned residents.

"The amount of zakat fitrah paid with money if in the form of rice, the rate is equal to 2.5 kilograms," he explained, for category one is Rp45,000 per person, category two Rp40,000 per person, and category three Rp35,000 per person.

"The determination of the amount of zakat fitrah involves various parties, such as the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), the district government, and other related institutions," said Muhammad Syahrir.
