President Prabowo's Reason for Wanting Indonesia to Strengthen Cooperation with the United States

WASHINGTON D.C. - President Prabowo Subianto will sign a trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States during his visit to the US on Thursday, February 19 local time.

In a Business Forum with the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, February 18 local time, President Prabowo conveyed Indonesia's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the US.

The agreement will provide certainty for business actors of the two countries. President Prabowo invited American businessmen to seriously partner with Indonesia. Indonesia needs partners in its modernization and industrialization efforts. Indonesia's newly formed sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, is currently carrying out various downstream projects.

President Prabowo said that Danantara is able to become a key partner for companies and investors in the industrial sector. President Prabowo also explained that Indonesia's economic fundamentals are strong. Economic growth is stable above 5 percent and inflation is under control.

The government, according to President Prabowo, maintains fiscal discipline and maintains state stability. Therefore, Indonesia is an attractive investment destination for foreign investors.

President Prabowo admitted that there were various problems that his government needed to overcome. These include corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities. Currently, according to President Prabowo, the government is trying to eradicate these things.
