As a continuation of the visit to Pakistan in January 2026, this meeting confirmed the implementation steps to increase concrete cooperation, especially in the field of the Air Force and national aerospace industry collaboration.

In line with this, Indonesia and Pakistan agreed to encourage the establishment of a joint working group as an instrument to accelerate the realization of cooperation.

Through this mechanism, the two countries not only deepen the existing collaboration, but also expand the scope of partnership to cross-sectors, cyber defense, artificial intelligence, and strategic industries, as an adaptive step to face the dynamics of modern warfare and maintain regional stability.

Meanwhile, in mid-January 2026, Minister Sjafrie visited Pakistan and met with the Pakistani Minister of Defense Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj.

During the meeting, Sjafrie sought to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense with the Pakistani government.

Both parties discussed strengthening cooperation in defense between Indonesia and Pakistan which was based on the Agreement on Cooperation Activities in the Field of Defense in 2010.

The defense cooperation to be built between the two countries includes military education and training cooperation, development of defense human resources, and strengthening the bilateral cooperation mechanism through the Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) forum.

On that occasion, Sjafrie also visited the Air Headquarters of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to meet with the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.

During the meeting, Sjafrie again discussed efforts to strengthen relations between the Indonesian Air Force and the Pakistan Air Force, especially in the fields of education, training, and exchange of professional experiences between Air Force personnel.
