Head Of Intel Moraid Police, Sorong, West Papua Persecuted, Police Attacked By Mobs

MANOKWARI - Head of the Intel Moraid Police Unit (Kanit) of the Sorong Police of the West Papua Police, Bripka Miswanto became a victim of persecution by a group of residents. The persecution occurred when Bripka Miswanto was on duty to secure a driver who was involved in a fatal accident.

Not only persecuting Bripka Miswanto, this group of residents also damaged the Moraid Police Station because they could not find the driver.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, confirmed that the incident resulted from a fatal accident on Monday, May 31 between a motorcycle rider and a Toyota Hilux car that resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider.

"The group of residents wanted to look for the driver of the Toyota Hilux car, but was not found because it was already secured by the Moraid Police, which triggered the persecution of the Intel Chief of Staff and caused the destruction of the Moraid Sorong Police Station," said Kombes Adam, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 1.

Currently, the situation in the jurisdiction of the Moraid Sorong Police is conducive after the incident.

"The Sorong Police Chief accompanied by the Dirpolairud Polda West Papua and Danyon B Brimob Sorong City arrived at the Moraid Police Headquarters at 15.30 WIT, the situation is safe," said Kombes Adam.

The police appealed to the public not to be easily provoked, if such an incident occurred to hand it over to the police and not to take anarchic actions.

"For the community, we urge that if something like this happens, leave it to the police, don't make the action into a new crime, such as vandalism or persecution. Let's keep the West Papua region safe and peaceful," said Kombes Adam.
