BNN Bali Seizes Hundreds of Electric Cigarettes Containing Drugs

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) Bali has seized hundreds of e-cigarettes suspected of containing the narcotic preparation of etomidate.

Acting Head of the Bali Provincial BNN Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Division, Kombes Tri Kuncoro, said that hundreds of e-cigarettes were confiscated from a man with the initials RW alias Kris (44) on Jalan Kerta Dalam, Sidakarya Village, South Denpasar, on Saturday (7/2).

"The suspect admitted that the narcotics evidence belonged to him, which was bought from an expatriate known as stone," said Kuncoro, Monday, February 9.

He explained that etomidate is a type of narcotic of class II which is used in the medical world for surgical procedures.

Etomidate produces a sedative, hypnotic and relaxing effect by acting on the central nervous system which may lead to addiction.

This case was revealed from the results of BNN Bali Provincial intelligence analysis regarding information on the liquid etomidate network operating in the Denpasar area.

Based on this information, the Bali Provincial BNN Eradication Team carried out a search and arrest of RW.

In the presence of community witnesses, officers conducted a search at the suspect's house, initially finding 72 pcs of cartridges containing liquid vape/e-cigarettes suspected of containing etomidate.

From the results of the interrogation and examination, it was found that the perpetrator still kept other liquid narcotics in a rented house located across from the suspect's house.

From the results of the search in the house, one yellow suitcase was found which contained 600 pcs of liquid etomidate.

The suspect admitted that the narcotics evidence belonged to him, which he bought from a foreigner.

BNN is still hunting for the foreign national supplier of the goods.

The suspect and the evidence were secured to the Bali Provincial BNN Office for further investigation and investigation.
