Two Comedians Opening the Mens Rea Event Are Investigated at Polda Metro Jaya

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has examined two witnesses with initials DWN and AAD who are the opening comedians or opening the Pandji Pragiwaksono show titled "Mens Rea".

"Both were examined in their capacity as witnesses and were known to have played the role of opener (opener) at the Mens Rea event," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

Both witnesses were examined regarding clarification of the organization of the event, series of activities, and materials presented.

Previously, the Polda Metro Jaya had also scheduled to call comedian or stand-up comedian, Pandji Pragiwaksono (PP) on Friday, February 6, 2026, regarding a number of reports addressed to him.

"Brother PP is asked to attend a clarification on Friday at 10.00 WIB," said Budi when confirmed.

The call, according to him, was a follow-up to the five existing police reports, and it is hoped that the person concerned can attend to clarify so that everything is answered.

"This is an invitation for clarification, because the reported object is the same, so the investigators think about how to save time by calling them at one time in five cases," said Budi.

Regarding this case, the Polda Metro Jaya has also examined 10 witnesses in the defamation case allegedly committed by Pandji.

"Currently, we have taken statements from 10 people, both witnesses and experts, in connection with the substance of the content," said the Head of the Metro Jaya Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, on January 20, 2026.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 2026, Pandji was known to have greeted the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) regarding the stand-up comedy material "Mens Rea" which later became the concern of a number of parties, especially regarding religious issues.

Pandji said that his arrival at the MUI was to explain the meaning and context of the stand-up comedy performance he presented, including a number of materials that were considered to require further explanation.

"I came here with the intention to explain, actually to be tabayun, to explain the meaning of my performance, the meaning of a number of my jokes that seem to need to be elaborated more deeply," said Pandji after a meeting at the MUI office.
