BOGOR - Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD encourages the Tourism and Culture Service (Disparbud) to strengthen the development of non-APBD-based tourism events as a strategy to deal with regional budget constraints.
The encouragement was conveyed in a working meeting of Commission IV of the Bogor City DPRD with Disparbud at the DPRD Building, Tuesday, February 3. The meeting was chaired by Commission IV Chairman Fajar Muhamad Nur, accompanied by Commission IV Secretary H. Subhan and a number of other council members.
Fajar assessed that the limited regional fiscal conditions require a new breakthrough so that the tourism sector continues to move and is able to contribute to regional income. One of the steps considered effective is to increase the number of events funded through collaboration with private parties, communities, and sponsors, without relying on the APBD.
According to him, the allocation of tourism promotion budget is still minimal compared to the total budget of the Disparbud, even though promotion is the key to attracting tourist visits.
"The promotional budget is still very small. Even though promotion is the spearhead of tourism. Therefore, we encourage non-APBD strategies, one of which is through consistent and quality events," said Fajar.
Commission IV targets, after the curation and verification process, at least 90 events can be held every year to maintain the movement of tourists to Bogor City. These events are expected to be able to stimulate the local economy while increasing the Regional Original Income (PAD).
In addition to events, the DPRD also encourages the development of potential destinations, such as the Mulyaharja area, especially Saung Eling, which has historical value of royal relics. This area is considered to be an additional attraction for tourists.
Fajar added that the momentum of the Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) must also be used as a promotional opportunity. He asked Disparbud to prepare a welcoming scheme for athletes and officials so that they could also travel while in Bogor.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bogor City Tourism and Culture Office, Firdaus, stated that his party was ready to strengthen the tourism strategy based on collaboration. Currently, Disparbud has recorded 56 events in the official calendar, 10 of which have been designated as flagship agendas.
"We encourage these ten flagship events to increase PAD and attract as many tourists as possible," said Firdaus.
He emphasized that a number of activities would be carried out without using the APBD through cooperation with third parties and communities. This scheme is expected to maintain the sustainability of the tourism program even in the midst of regional financial pressures.
"We open the widest possible space for collaboration. Hopefully, tourism will continue to run and become more well-known without relying entirely on government budgets," he said.
