JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is investigating one of the auditors of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) regarding the financial statements in the PT Jiwasraya case which lost money because the investment value decreased not due to corruption in 2018-2019
Attorney General Burhanuddin, when receiving a report on the loss of the PT Asabri (Persero) case at the AGO, confirmed the investigation.
"I answered, there is still an investigation," said Burhanuddin, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 31.
Meanwhile, Head of BPK Agung Firman Sampurna previously stated that the Jiwasraya case was a complex case so that his party had to be careful in involving those (auditors) who were in the investigation of the case.
With regard to Jiwasraya, Agung said, it was an act against the law and it had been decided by the court, then it went up to prosecution, explaining that there were elements of crime and state losses.
"So, it is not correct to say that the Jiwasraya case is only a loss to the corporation and not to the state," said Agung.
He explained, when there is an act against the law, the loss is the state's loss. Meanwhile, regarding the results of the auditor, it was confirmed that there was an unlawful act in the Jiwasraya case.
The act against the law, he continued, causing state losses has increased to prosecution in court, the process has now been twice cassated.
"That is quite convincing for us and we also give our highest appreciation to the law enforcement apparatus which hereby reveals that it is a big picture that there is only one problem that needs to be resolved and this is related to public trust," said Agung.
According to Agung, the Attorney General's Office bravely exposed the Jiwasraya case in order to restore public trust, especially with two things, namely related to the non-bank financial industry and related to the capital market.
"We hope that with this law enforcement effort in the future we can get comprehensive information on how we can secure it so that we can reduce criminal acts like this, we can reduce risks related to things like this by improving the system," said Agung.
Regarding whether there are BPK auditors being investigated, Agung is waiting for further developments from the AGO.
"But it is important for us to convey so far, this is information that we can disclose to the public. So, it is not nothing, but this is information that we can disclose to the public," said Agung.
Meanwhile, the Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General's Office, Febrie Adriansyah, said that his party was only conducting an in-depth investigation.
"We are investigating that further, only further investigation, there are members of the BPK who allegedly obstructed the investigation," said Febrie.
