NTB Mataram Education Office Will Close Minim Siswa Schools for PPDB Applicants

Mataram - The Education Office (Disdik) of the City of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, will immediately close a number of schools because the number of students who apply for the New Student Admission (PPDB) is small.

Head of the Mataram City Education Office (Disdik) Yusuf said the school that will be closed is the Elementary School (SD) 36 Ampenan.

"The number of students at SDN 36 Ampenan is only 30 students in six study groups (rombel)," he said in Mataram, Monday, quoted by Antara.

According to him, as many as 30 students in six classes at SDN 36 Ampenan were in class I only three students, class II four students, class III four students, class IV four students, class V one student, and class VI as many as 14 students.

"With the very small number of students, we plan to close the school," he said.

For teachers and principals, he said, they will be transferred to schools that are short of teachers, while students will be merged into SDN 20 Ampenan.

Meanwhile, for school buildings, he continued, they will be returned to the local government so that they can be used for government needs.

"The closure will take effect in the 2026/2027 school year. The minimal number of students in the school has an impact on the effectiveness of teaching and learning activities," he said.

Apart from closing schools, he continued, the Mataram City Education Office will also combine several other schools, such as SDN 41 Cakranegara will be merged with SDN 10 Cakranegara. The merger was also carried out because the students were few.

Some of the schools that were merged were SDN 19 Mataram with SDN 15 Mataram, SDN 11 Ampenan with SDN 14 Ampenan, so that the four schools will later be two.

"For schools that will be closed and merged, it has entered the draft. In addition, there are several schools that we are still studying to join," he said.
