JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Europe had made "another big strategic mistake" by designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a "terrorist organization".

"Setting aside the blatant hypocrisy of its selective outrage - taking no action in response to Israel's genocide in Gaza and yet rushing to 'defend human rights' in Iran - Europe's PR stunt is primarily aimed at covering up the fact that they are actors who are experiencing a drastic decline."
"Moreover, because this continent will certainly be greatly affected by an all-out war in our region - including the continued impact of soaring energy prices - the EU's current stance is very detrimental to its own interests. European citizens deserve better than what their governments are offering," he said.
Previously, the foreign ministers of the European Union member states this week agreed to designate the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, freezing assets and imposing travel bans on about 30 Iranian individuals and entities in response to Tehran's crackdown on anti-government protests, quoted by Daily Sabah.
