BOGOR - Heavy rain that hit Bogor City on Thursday, January 29, triggered a landslide in Bondongan Village, South Bogor District. An elderly woman was reported dead after being buried by landslide material.

The victim was identified as Aminah Mimin (54). He died after being hit by the collapse of the retaining wall while passing through the location of the incident in Kampung Jerokuta RT 005/RW 016.

The incident occurred at around 18.45 WIB. Heavy rainfall since the afternoon made the soil structure in the area unstable until finally the retaining wall of the residents' land collapsed and hit the victim.

Initial information about the incident was first reported by the village through social media. The Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) received the report at 19.05 WIB and immediately deployed personnel to the location to handle it.

Head of the Bogor City BPBD, Dimas Tiko, said the landslide material was quite large, making it difficult to evacuate.

"The landslide has a length of about four meters and a height of about four meters. The retaining wall of the land collapsed and fell on the victim who was passing by," said Dimas.

The TRC-PB BPBD team together with police, fire, sub-district and village officials, as well as the local RT/RW managers then carried out assessments and evacuations.

"The victim was successfully evacuated from the pile of material and immediately rushed to the Melania Hospital for medical treatment," he said.

However, after receiving intensive care, the victim was declared dead by the hospital. The evacuation and handling process at the scene was completed at around 20.15 WIB.

The Bogor City BPBD appeals to the public to increase vigilance, especially during heavy rain, considering that a number of areas with unstable land contours are still potentially prone to landslides. Residents living on slopes or near cliffs are asked to immediately report if they see cracks in the ground or signs of soil movement.
