JAKARTA - The joint SAR team temporarily stopped the search process for victims of landslides in Cisarua, West Bandung Regency, West Java. This decision is due to bad weather that endangers the safety of personnel in the field.

Head of the Bandung SAR Office Ade Dianmengatakan hujan disertai angin kencang membuat kondisi tanah semakin labil, sehingga berpotensi memicu longsor susulan.

"The safety of personnel is a priority. With the unstable soil conditions and the weather continuing to worsen, the search is not possible to continue," Ade said in West Bandung, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the thick mud material also made it difficult for the evacuation process of the victims who were allegedly still buried at the disaster site.

However, before the operation was temporarily stopped, the joint SAR team managed to evacuate one body which was then taken to the relevant facility to undergo the identification process.

Ade added that the search would resume after the weather improved and the conditions at the location were declared safe for all officers.

He said the joint SAR team also received health support in the form of vaccination and vitamin distribution from the Ministry of Health and the local Health Office.

"We received help with vaccines and vitamins to maintain the condition of the search team. This is very meaningful considering the risks in the field," he said.

Ade said medical personnel were also deployed in every search sector to anticipate emergency conditions that personnel might experience during duty.

"At each location there is a team of doctors, so if something happens it can be handled immediately," he said.

Regarding the duration of the search operation, Ade said the local government proposed that the search be carried out for 14 days, with an evaluation on the seventh day, Friday, January 30.

"We follow the provisions. Later we will evaluate whether there is a need for an extension or not, depending on the search results," he said.
