JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Class I Immigration Office has dismantled an international network human trafficking (TPPM) syndicate that sends foreign nationals (WNA) to Australia through a "rat" route in Indonesia.

Three foreigners consisting of two Chinese citizens with initials SS (37) and XS (39), and a Thai citizen with the initials PK (27) were successfully arrested in the disclosure.

"So this disclosure started from a report from the public regarding the presence of foreigners suspected of illegally having an electronic ID card of Indonesian citizens in the West Jakarta area," said Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration DKI Jakarta, Pamuji Raharja, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday.

The officers then raided the location on Monday night, January 12, 2026. As a result, three people were arrested and are now suspects. A number of items were also seized as evidence.

"The evidence includes passports, fake ID cards or KTP, and the mobile phone used by the perpetrator," said Pamuji.

Based on the investigation, the suspect SS played the main role as the mastermind of the syndicate. He even had a fake electronic ID card with the identity of "Gunawan Santoso" which was recorded as domiciled in Cianjur Regency, as camouflage.

The suspect SS obtained the false documents through the help of an Indonesian citizen (WNI) with the initials LS.

"According to SS's confession, he paid LS a total of Rp. 90 million for the processing of population documents in the form of an electronic ID card, family card, and birth certificate," said Pamuji.

The fake documents were also used by SS to rent a residence for himself and his colleagues, as well as a logistics shelter during the preparation of human smuggling.

In the process, SS was assisted by PK, a Thai citizen and XS who is a Chinese citizen.

"PK participated in helping in the process of applying for an electronic KTP with a false identity in the name of Gunawan Santoso, namely by carrying out the process of editing a passport photo to be used by SS," said Pamuji.

In its action, the syndicate offered services to Chinese citizens who wanted to enter Australia illegally to seek asylum or employment.

The victims are known to have flown independently from China to Jakarta, then temporarily accommodated before being flown to Merauke, Papua, accompanied by suspect XS.

"Furthermore, from the Merauke region, Papua, the foreign nationals departed for Australia with A alias C using his ship," explained Pamuji.

The suspect XS admitted that he had managed to send five foreigners to Australia through the rat line. For his service, XS set a tariff of 60,000 Chinese Yuan (RMB) or around Rp. 130 million per person.

"From each delivery, XS claimed to have made a profit of 8,000 RMB or around Rp. 17 million," said Pamuji.

However, the fate of the five smuggled people ended up being caught by immigration authorities in Australia.

Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah, emphasized that the three suspects would be subject to strict sanctions in the form of deportation and denial of entry into Indonesia.

The three are suspected of violating Article 75 paragraph 1 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, as well as Article 120 regarding human smuggling and Article 122 regarding the abuse of residence permits.

"Because the false population documents are used not only for personal interests, but also promoted to Chinese citizens as a means of supporting illegal departure to Australia," said Ronald.

Meanwhile, Head of Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement (Kabid Inteldak), Yoga Kharisma Suhud, added that his party was still investigating the involvement of Indonesian citizens with the initials LS who were intermediaries in the manufacture of fake ID cards.

Including, investigating the alleged involvement of the Civil Registry and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil).

"If LS is still being studied. But LS itself is definitely civilians (not government officials). We continue to check and coordinate with related agencies, especially those who issue the deed we suspect is fake," said Yoga.
