Bank Indonesia officially confirmed Iwan Setiawan as Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Province. The confirmation was carried out by the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Aida S. Budiman in Jakarta, as a follow-up to the inauguration and handover of the post which had been held on December 12, 2025 in the context of the Bank Indonesia Strategic Evaluation Meeting (RESBI) 2025.

Aida explained that the change and appointment of leadership was part of the Bank Indonesia leadership program which was carried out periodically. This step was taken to ensure that the organization remains adaptive to the dynamics of the industry and supports the achievement of the central bank's vision.

* We do have a program called a program to always make changes or determine leadership. We do this twice a year, part of the leadership program at Bank Indonesia so that our organization can always see the very dynamic industry," said Aida in the inauguration on Monday, January 19.

He emphasized that the policy was in line with Bank Indonesia's vision to become the leading digital central bank in the emerging market region, as well as contributing positively to the national economy. In this context, the strengthening of Iwan Setiawan is considered as part of the effort to strengthen the organization.

"We did that so that on December 12 yesterday, the inauguration was carried out, one of which was Mr. Iwan Setiawan," he said.

According to Aida, Iwan is not a new figure in the Bank Indonesia environment. Since August 2025, he has served as Acting Head of the BI DKI Jakarta Representative Office. His track record is also considered long and diverse, both at the central office, regional representative offices, and abroad.

"Mr. Iwan Setiawan is an employee of Bank Indonesia who has worked for quite a long time," said Aida.

DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung

Aida hopes that Iwan can become a strategic partner of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in encouraging the transformation of Jakarta into a global city. This hope was conveyed in line with the focus of Bank Indonesia's policies in recent months, namely maintaining stability while encouraging economic growth.

On the other hand, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung expressed his appreciation for the confirmation of the Head of the BI DKI Jakarta Representative Office. He assessed that the presence of Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as strategic partners had a real impact in encouraging the digitization and consumption of the community.

Pramono gave an example of a digitalization market competition program involving BI and OJK as judges. From this program, the level of market digitization in Jakarta is said to have increased significantly.

"That's where I know that market digitization can rise to 47 percent," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, continued Pramono, has 153 markets that are targeted to use QRIS. Similar efforts are also applied to shopping centers and hotels through discount and ornament competitions during the Christmas and New Year momentum.

As a result, Jakarta's economic transactions during the period were recorded at Rp. 15.2 trillion as of January 12. The occupancy rate of hotels in several major areas, such as Sudirman, Thamrin, and Gatot Subroto, is even said to be close to full.

"And what is the result? Yesterday's transaction in Jakarta until January 12 when we closed 15.2 trillion rupiah," said Pramono.

In the future, the DKI Provincial Government plans to continue a similar strategy to welcome Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr. Pramono assessed that efforts to encourage community spending are one of the keys to maintaining Jakarta's economic growth.

Pramono expressed the hope that cooperation with Bank Indonesia would continue to be strengthened. He emphasized the commitment of the DKI Provincial Government to prepare Jakarta as a global city through the improvement of human resources and transparent government governance.

"I want to be right that Jakarta really becomes a global city that experiences many better policy transformations," he added.
