JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) RI Tito Karnavian said that four areas in West Sumatra Province (Sumbar) still need special attention after the disaster that occurred at the end of November 2025.

"If we look at the map, we see that it is quite heavy and requires special attention for these four areas," said the Minister of Home Affairs in Padang City, Tuesday, January 13, as reported by ANTARA.

The four areas that must receive special attention are Agam Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency, Tanah Datar Regency and South Coast Regency.

Tito said that the special attention was due to the condition of the disaster that occurred in the four regencies which were considered heavy compared to other regencies and cities which had started to gradually normalize.

However, Tito said that this does not mean that other areas have recovered. For example, access disruption is still occurring in Solok Regency so it still needs to be handled.

"The condition of the four of them is quite complex. This means that there are problems with educational facilities, road access, markets, PDAM so that it requires technical handling from each ministry," he said.

Tito said he would continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works, Danantara, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of MSME and other related institutions.

Meanwhile, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi said the local government continues to be committed to ensuring that the wheels of development continue to run optimally so that the community remains productive.

Mahyeldi said that referring to data on areas affected by floods and landslides, 307,936 people were affected. Of these, 264 people died, 72 people were missing, 401 were injured, and 10,854 people were forced to evacuate and 296,345 were affected by the disaster.
