Bulog Prioritizes the Procurement of 4 Million Tons of Rice Reserves for National Food Security

JAKARTA - The procurement of four million tons of rice reserves is currently a top priority to maintain the sustainability of national food self-sufficiency emphasized by President Prabowo Subianto. This was conveyed by the Director of Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani.

Rizal said that the absorption of government rice reserves was targeted at 4 million tons in 2026, an increase from the 2025 realization of 3 million tons, so early planning is needed so that the target can be optimally achieved.

"The year 2025 is 3 million tons, now in 2026, 4 million tons. Therefore, we are planning as early as possible, as soon as possible so that the target can be achieved without knowing the time and without knowing the fatigue," said Rizal in a National Working Meeting with all ranks entitled Evaluation of Performance 2025 and Work Plan 2026 in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, January 11.

He emphasized that the National Working Meeting of Bulog, which was attended by all Regional and Branch Leaders, was held for two days, Sunday and Monday (11-12), as a forum for consolidating policies and the readiness of his party to face the target of strengthening national food throughout 2026.

He emphasized that his party followed up on President Prabowo's instructions and the Minister of Agriculture as the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) following Indonesia's success in achieving food self-sufficiency, which was appreciated by all stakeholders.

Rizal said that the main strategy emphasized by Bulog was the pentahelix collaboration involving the central and regional governments, the private sector, and farmers as the key to the success of food self-sufficiency.

"Bulog does not work alone, but is assisted by all government and private stakeholders and even farmers in the field throughout the country," said Rizal.

In addition to collaboration, Bulog prioritizes working together with the TNI-Polri, Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, and field agricultural extensionists (PPL) to support the absorption of food and sustainable logistics distribution.

"Because without these three (TNI-Polri, PPL), friends in the field to absorb this are somewhat difficult, so with the role of these three institutions, it will be extraordinary to support us for the absorption of 4 million tons," said Rizal.

On that occasion, Rizal also expressed his appreciation to the internal ranks of Bulog from the center to the region, as well as all government, private, and farmer stakeholders for their contribution to maintaining food security.

In addition to rice, Bulog also set a target of absorbing 1 million tons of corn through synergy with the National Police, as well as the absorption of 70,000 tons of soybeans nationwide.

Then Bulog also targets the distribution of Minyakita cooking oil of 720,000 kiloliters with ID Food and Agrinas Palma to maintain availability and affordable prices throughout Indonesia.
