Religious Harmony in Indonesia Achieves 77 Percent by 2025

BONE - Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar said the level of religious harmony in Indonesia is at the highest level since the era of independence. In 2025, the harmony index was recorded at 77 percent.

"This is the highest harmony figure we have ever achieved since Indonesia became independent. We have never experienced a level of harmony like now based on survey results," said Nasaruddin when opening the Sports and Arts Week (Porseni) in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, Wednesday, January 7.

He said that the achievement was not just a statistical figure, but was reflected in the social life of the community. One of them can be seen in various cross-religious agendas held in the 80th Anniversary of the Ministry of Religion (HAB), ranging from Porseni to cross-religious street movements.

"In this activity, people forget what their religion is because they are so familiar with each other. They come from various regions, mingle without barriers," he said.

Nasaruddin assessed that the 80th anniversary of HAB was also an opportunity to strengthen national unity. The enthusiasm of tens of thousands of participants from various regions is expected to bring positive social and economic impacts for the local community.

In addition to harmony, the Minister of Religion also touched on the increasingly strong national solidarity, especially in disaster relief. The Ministry of Religion has prepared around Rp. 140 billion for disaster handling in various regions, including Sumatra and Aceh, with support up to the provincial, district, and mosque levels.

"Even from Papua, they are also collecting assistance for our brothers in Aceh. This really feels like Indonesia is one," said Nasaruddin.

The Minister of Religion hopes that this positive trend of religious harmony will continue to increase in the future and is targeted to achieve even higher achievements in 2026.

"Hopefully the graph will continue to rise, and we can keep this harmony together," he concluded.
