Helicopter Evacuation Falls Into Jemblung Cibubur Swamp Lake Waiting For NTSC

JAKARTA - The evacuation process for the appointment of the training helicopter that crashed in Situ Rawa Jemblung Cibubur, Depok, West Java, is still waiting for the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

Cimanggis Police Chief, Kompol Ibrahim J Sadjab, said that until now it was not certain when the helicopter would be evacuated because it was waiting for the KNKT.

"We do not know when the evacuation will be and at what time," he was quoted as saying by Antara, Friday, May 28.

Until 17.25 WIB the training helicopter was still in Situ Rawa Jemblung and only the door was visible.

At around 17.00 WIB a boat approached the helicopter in Situ Rawa Jemblung.

The boat carrying a number of passengers and a person wearing a KNKT vest approached and took pictures of the helicopter.

After a few minutes of watching the helicopter then the boat left the helicopter.

Police said there was no explosion in the incident the Robinson R44 training helicopter crashed in Buperta Cibubur. From witness testimony, the helicopter engine immediately died after falling into the Rawa Jemblung lake.

"According to witnesses, the plane did not emit smoke or an explosion while in the air when the plane entered the water, the engine was turned on and a few minutes later the engine died," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Friday, May 28.

Before it fell, said Yusi, several witnesses saw the helicopter shaking. Until finally, the plane crashed into a swamp.

"The helicopter flew from the east, suddenly the plane lowered and then swerved to the right and entered the swamp," he said.

Until now, it is not certain about the cause of the crash. It only says if the cause is engine failure.

Meanwhile two people in the R44 helicopter survived. They got out of the helicopter which fell into Situ Rawa Jemblung.

"The pilots and students managed to save themselves after 15 minutes of the plane crash," said Head of Public Relations of the Depok Police, Kompol Supriyadi, Friday, May 28.
