JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani reminded regional heads in all provinces to be open and transparent regarding data on the spread and status of COVID-19 in their respective regions. This is to determine pandemic control measures in every region in the country.

"Don't cover up the status of COVID-19. If the red (zone, red) says red, don't sound as if it is healthy. That must be overcome, because the implications will endanger all residents," said Puan in Jakarta, Friday, May 28. .

The PDIP politician appealed to all levels of government to understand this condition. This is because the control and handling of COVID-19 is carried out in a mutual cooperation.

According to Puan, all Regional Governments must immediately determine steps for handling and coordination with related parties if their territory is included in the COVID-19 red zone.

He emphasized that the Regional Government should be more careful in implementing every policy in order to improve the economy. Where, has the potential to create a great potential for transmission of COVID-19.

"Health and safety are the main things that must be maintained. The economy is important but the safety of the citizens is the main thing. So, you have to be patient," he said.

The former Coordinating Minister for PMK admits that he will continue to encourage the central government to speed up vaccination until communal immunity or "herd immunity" is achieved. He said, all efforts to control COVID-19 would be more effective if they received support from the community.

Therefore, he asked the public to remind each other the importance of discipline in carrying out health protocols even though they have been vaccinated.

"Regional heads must work together with the central government because it is impossible for us to go our separate ways in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
