JAKARTA - The Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda Kepri) plans to ask for clarification from the Head of the Batam City Industry and Trade Office (Kadisperindag), Gustian Riau (GR), suspected of playing a role in the obscene video used as an extortion tool.
"We will immediately send a letter of invitation to the person concerned (Gustian Riau - ed) for us to investigate the complaint," said Head of Sub-Directorate V Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the North Sumatra Regional Police, AKBP Arif Mahari, when met at the North Sumatra Regional Police, Monday, quoted by Antara.
GR reported that he felt he was being blackmailed by someone through videos and photos of immoral content. The complaint was filed by GR to the Kepri Police on Monday, December 29.
Arif said the report was still a complaint, so investigators still needed to investigate it for investigation.
"It hasn't become a police report, it's still a complaint, so it's still being investigated," he said.
He said his party was still in intensive communication with Gustian Riau's reporter, to investigate the truth of the video.
According to him, this complaint has not become a police report because the documents are not complete, including the mobile phone in question has not been handed over for further investigation.
"The person concerned has not completed his report, has not given his cellphone," he said.
Arif said his party did not want to be hasty and applied caution in handling this case because it concerned government officials.
Regarding the video is the result of digital engineering, Arif said it needs to be investigated. According to him, the police need the cell phone from the person concerned. However, until the complaint was filed, GR had not handed over his cell phone.
"That's why we immediately asked the person concerned for clarification, this week we sent an invitation letter," said Arif.
Previously, a 23-second video containing obscene content was circulating which featured a video call conversation between GR and a woman.
In the video, the person suspected of being GR showed the bottom of his pants to the woman.
The Batam City Government has taken a firm stance regarding the circulation of a video containing immoral content allegedly involving GR, by deactivating him from his position as Head of the Batam City Disperindag.
