JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue the excavation project in 2026. One of them is located in the Fatmawati area to Jalan H. Nawi Raya which will last until December 15, 2026.
This work is part of the construction of the Fatmawati Area Water Management System which is intended to reduce the puddles that often occur during heavy rains.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Office, Ika Agustin Ningrum, explained that the project uses the pipe jacking method or underground channel. This system is designed to divert water flow from the stagnant points that have burdened the Fatmawati area.
"The construction of the Fatmawati area water management system on Jl. H. Nawi Raya is carried out with a jacking system (underground channel) which aims to handle the flooding that often occurs when it rains with a fairly high intensity on Jl. Fatmawati Raya intersection Jl. H. Nawi Raya-ITC Fatmawati," said Ika in his statement, Monday, January 5.
Ika said that so far the flow from the Madrasah PHB channel in Cilandak to the Darmawangsa PHB Channel in Kebayoran Baru often causes overflow. To reduce this burden, some of the flow will be diverted to the west towards Kali Grogol.
The excavation project that diverted the flow of water, according to Ika, was carried out through an underground channel so as to reduce the risk of flooding in the Fatmawati area and its surroundings.
"The above is to reduce the overflow of water in the Fatmawati area of Jl. H.Nawi - ITC Fatmawati and its surroundings. The new flow to Kali Grogol is diverted using an underground channel (pipe jacking)," said Ika.
The project stretches from the ITC Fatmawati junction to Kali Grogol in the Pondok Indah area. The total length of the underground channel built reaches about 1.4 kilometers with 12 pit excavation points.
"The implementation period starts from September 15, 2025 to December 15, 2026 or for 455 days," he said.
The initial phase of the work begins from the downstream side, namely on the north side of Jalan Margaguna Pondok Indah 1. The first three pits were carried out since November 2025 and are estimated to last until March-April 2026. During the work, the width of the road at a number of points will narrow.
"During the work on 3 Pit, the condition of the road, which was originally 2 lanes, will become 1 lane," said Ika.
For the next phase, pit work along Jalan H. Nawi Raya to Jalan Fatmawati has the potential to trigger road narrowing and traffic diversion. The SDA is still waiting for the traffic engineering from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office.
