JAKARTA - The Kerinci Seblat National Park Headquarters (BBTNKS) recorded 2,195 climbers of Mount Kerinci and Mount Tujuh Lake in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2026 holidays.

"From December 21, 2025 to January 2, 2026, the number of visits to Mount Kerinci was 934 people and Mount Tujuh Lake was 1,261 people," said Head of the National Park Management Section (SPTN) Region I BBTNKS David, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

According to him, the visit proves that Mount Kerinci and the Mount Tujuh Lake area are still an alternative for nature lovers. This is evidenced by the origin of climbers who come as diverse or not only local residents (Jambi).

Individuals and groups who visit the TNKS area come from other provinces and islands, including four visitors from abroad.

He said during that period, there were four incidents involving climbers. They were successfully evacuated due to foot problems (twisted), fatigue, and cold symptoms (hypothermia).

"During this period, visitors who were injured or injured and had cold symptoms were also evacuated. Two cases in Mount Kerinci and two cases in Mount Tujuh," he said.

Before the climbing process, he ensured that officers gave instructions to visitors to continue to comply with the applicable procedures.

"We also continue to advise and recommend to every visitor not to approach the crater of Mount Kerinci until a radius of three kilometers," he said.

David ensured that the program in 2026 in the national park area, like the previous period, among others, the activities of securing and monitoring the conservation area in a structured and digital technology-based manner, inventory of key or important wildlife in the area, and community empowerment.

"The activities are usually almost the same, there are routine smart patrols, inventory of important wildlife in the area. Community empowerment, ecosystem restoration, visitor monitoring," he said.
