JAKARTA - Joint officers are handling the rob flood or coastal flood that submerged the area in Tugu Arsa, Pulau Untung Jawa Village, Thousand Islands Regency, on Friday, January 2, 2025.

"The height of the flood reached 15 centimeters (cm). There are 20 personnel who are trying to suck up the flood using a pump machine," said the Head of Untung Jawa Island, Muslim in Jakarta, Friday.

He said the water puddles were directly sucked out using a pump engine that was directly channeled into the sea.

According to him, the deployment of personnel was carried out after the village received a report from residents.

"As soon as we received the report, we immediately sent 20 joint personnel from the PPSU, Sudin SDA, and Sudin Gulkarmat to pump water using a pump machine," said Muslim.

The quick steps were taken so that the puddles would not linger and not interfere with the activities of residents around the location.

"Alhamdulillah, the handling went smoothly and at this time the puddle at Tugu Arsa has been successfully handled. The condition is safe and under control," he said.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) issued a warning about the potential for coastal flooding or rob which is estimated to occur for a week, starting from December 30, 2025 to January 7, 2026.

Residents of the northern coast of Jakarta are asked to increase their vigilance, especially during the highest tide hours.

BPBD noted that the vulnerable period of rob is predicted to occur in the morning to noon, around 06.00-12.00 WIB, along with the maximum tide of seawater in coastal areas.
