Commission III of the DPR asks the police to continue to fight drugs: There must be no apparatus that becomes 'Beking'

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Hasbiallah Ilyas, responded to the steps of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) which succeeded in confiscating 590 tons of drug evidence and arresting 64 thousand suspects in narcotics cases throughout 2025. He asked the Police to pursue the drug lords and not become a drug accomplice.

According to Hasbi, this achievement shows the seriousness of the National Police in combating the circulation of drugs in Indonesia. However, he reminded that these efforts must continue to be improved because the circulation of drugs to date is still very massive and threatens the nation's generation.

"The National Police must intensify prevention and eradication of drugs. The circulation of drugs is still very massive, so special and measurable strategies are needed to handle this issue," Hasbi told reporters, Wednesday, December 31.

Hasbi emphasized that the war on drugs should not stop at the arrest of small dealers, let alone just users. He encouraged the National Police to focus on dismantling large networks and arresting the main drug dealers who are key actors in narcotics crimes.

"What must be pursued are big cities. Don't just small dealers, let alone users. If the city is not touched, the chain of drug circulation will never be broken," said the PKB legislator from the DKI Jakarta District.

Hasbi also reminded the importance of maintaining the integrity of law enforcement officers in the war against drugs. He emphasized that there should be no officers who become backers or involved in the drug network.

"The war on drugs must continue to be encouraged without compromise. There must be no officers who play or become accomplices of drugs. If there are officers involved, they must be dealt with firmly, fired, and charged with a crime," he said.

Hasbi also hopes that the National Police can continue to strengthen synergy with the community, BNN, and all stakeholders to break the chain of drug trafficking.

"This is to save the younger generation and the future of the nation," he concluded.
