Mount Bur Ni Telong in Aceh Raises Status to Alert, Residents of 2 Villages Asked to Evacuate

JAKARTA - Residents in two gampong or villages in Timang Gajah District, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province, are asked to evacuate following the status of Mount Bur Ni Telong which was raised to Level III (Alert).

"Last night, based on information from the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Regent's instructions, we appeal to the people in the two villages to evacuate," said Head of the Communication and Information Technology Office (Kominfo) Bener Meriah Ilham Abdi when contacted in Banda Aceh, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the increase in activity of Mount Bur Ni Telong was raised to Level III or Alert since December 30, 2025 at 22.45 WIB.

Ilham Abdi said that in accordance with the increase in the status, the safe radius was increased from three kilometers to five kilometers, so that the villages in the radius had to evacuate.

He said that currently the people who were displaced in the Unsyiah Campus complex in the area reached two thousand refugees.

"We have also prepared tents and those who have been displaced are not only two villages, there were other village communities who panicked," he said.

He said that for the earthquake that felt ten times and in the morning aftershocks also occurred 2.8 SR.

"We appeal to the public not to panic and not to be influenced by unclear information. People who are not in the status of being displaced should stay at home," he said.

His party will provide up-to-date information to the public regarding the development of Mount Bur Ni Telong's activities.
