JAYAPURA - The Papua Regional Police (Polda) has started tightening security ahead of the 2026 New Year celebrations through the implementation of the Lilin Cartenz-2025 Operation Apel to create a safe and comfortable environment for all communities.

Kasatgas Preemtif Operation Lilin Cartenz-2025, Kompol Sujono, said that the appeal was attended by around 200 personnel involved in Christmas and New Year security in the Papua Police's jurisdiction.

"On Sunday (28/12) morning we have carried out the Lilin Cartenz-2025 Operation Apel at the Mapolda Papua Apel Field," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 29.

According to Sujono, in his instructions, his party emphasized the importance of preparedness, discipline, and the responsibility of all personnel in providing the best service to the community.

"Especially in the security of the worship of the Christian people and community activities leading up to the New Year's Eve 2026," he said.

Sujono asked all personnel to immediately carry out their duties according to their respective duty plans.
