FWK Nilai Indonesia Has Real Capital to Face Pressure in 2026

JAKARTA - The National Journalists Forum (FWK) considers Indonesia's achievements at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games as a strong signal that this nation has the social capital and resilience to overcome the heavy pressure in 2026.

The Indonesian contingent closed the 2025 SEA Games in second place in the final standings with 334 medals, consisting of 91 gold, 112 silver, and 130 bronze. The gold haul surpassed the government's target of 80 gold, even though Indonesia competed in the opponent's home.

FWK assesses that this success is not standing alone. This achievement is born from a collective work that is disciplined, measurable, and free of sectoral ego. The same pattern, according to FWK, is relevant to be applied in facing the national challenges next year, ranging from disasters, global economic pressures, to the consolidation of public policies.

In a discussion held in South Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12/2025), FWK highlighted the handling of disasters on the island of Sumatra as a real test of the nation's capacity. The solidarity of the community, volunteers, and the state is considered to show that national optimism is not just rhetoric.

One of the founders of FWK, Hendry Ch Bangun, emphasized that Indonesian history has always shown a recurring pattern: this nation is strong when it is united. According to him, the projection of an unconducive global economy can only be faced with joint work and clarity of policy direction.

FWK Coordinator Raja Parlindungan Pane added that the rapid logistics, medical, and humanitarian assistance for disaster victims in Sumatra was a concrete proof that the community was not passive in the face of the crisis.

FWK assesses that 2026 will be a year of proof. The effectiveness of the government's priority programs, economic stability, and the quality of public services will be tested. The achievements of the 2025 SEA Games send a clear message. Indonesia does not start from scratch. The target can be exceeded, even in difficult situations.
