JAKARTA - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, on Wednesday Inkara, according to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Fidan and the Hamas delegation reviewed the latest developments in Gaza, said a ministry source, according to Anadolu (24/2).

The talks included an exchange of views on the second phase of the Gaza peace plan.

Foreign Minister Fidan stressed that Turkey continues to defend Palestinian rights "in the strongest way possible on every platform," and briefed the delegation on Turkey's ongoing efforts to address housing needs and provide humanitarian assistance in war-torn Gaza.

The Hamas delegation, for its part, said it had met the terms of the ceasefire, but Israel continued to carry out attacks on Gaza and its people.

They said the approach was aimed at preventing a transition to the second phase of the peace plan.

The delegation also stated that 60 percent of the trucks allowed to enter Gaza carry commercial goods, and stressed that the amount of humanitarian aid entering the region is still far from enough to meet urgent needs.

They highlighted continuing shortages, especially of basic necessities, medicines, building materials for housing, and fuel.

The meeting also discussed developments in the reconciliation process among Palestinian factions and the situation in the West Bank.
