JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has started to build temporary housing (huntara) for flood and landslide victims in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said the construction of the huntara began on Friday (19/12) in Sibalanga Julu Hamlet, Sibalanga Village, Adiankoting District.
Reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 22, in the first phase, BNPB built 40 huntara units on an area of four hectares prepared by the local government.
As of Sunday (21/12), the progress of construction showed that land clearing had been completed and one unit of huntara had reached about 75 percent of the work.
Abdul explained that the huntara was built with the concept of a growing house, so that it can be developed into a permanent residence (huntap) later.
Each family will occupy an area of 6x6 meters with a building area of 4x6 meters, using the Healthy and Safe Instant House (RISHAM) technology.
One unit of the huntara consists of one bedroom, one main room, and one bathroom equipped with a septic tank with a reinforced concrete frame structure.
BNPB targets the completion of the first phase of the huntara construction within five weeks so that it can be inhabited by disaster-affected residents in January 2026
