DENPASAR - The Bali Tourism Agency (Dispar) has recorded that the number of foreign tourists (wisman) visiting Bali in the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) period has started to increase.

Head of Bali Dispar I Wayan Sumarajaya said the increase began to occur since last Sunday (14/12) where the general visit was 17 thousand per day to 20 thousand.

"Actually, since December 14 there has been an increase, for foreign tourists it has been above 20 thousand per day, as well as for domestic tourists there has been an increase since December 19," he said, Monday, December 22.

"We hope that before Nataru there will be an increase in the arrival of foreign and Indonesian tourists, hopefully this can continue until the new year," he continued.

When asked about the issue of Bali being empty of tourists during the Nataru period, Sumarajaya estimated that the narrative emerged because Bali was empty when it was not in the high season of visits.

"If the rhythm of the presence of tourists per year is indeed in Balu there are high and low seasons, we are in high season in June, July, August, September, after that there is a natural decline but not so sharp and that is normal from year to year, later before Nataru rises again," he said.

If viewed based on this year's accumulation, foreign tourists to Bali also increased compared to 2024, where in the same period last year the total visits were 6.3 million and this year had reached 6.7 million visits.

The Bali Dispar admitted that he still tried to create quality and dignified tourism through coordination with various parties, vertical institutions, regional and district devices, including business actors so that services in the Nataru tourism could be better.

Sumarajaya also admitted that the weather conditions in the rainy season would greatly affect the condition of tourism in Bali, but in some places he stated that there had been an increase in activities.

"We have coordinated with various parties related to tourism services, we have issued an appeal so that we can maintain comfort and safety in rainy weather, and how we make appeals to business actors to prepare SOPs and socialize do's and don'ts," said Sumarajaya.
