Japek Toll Experiences an Increase in Vehicle Volume Ahead of Christmas and New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan reviewed the Karawang Police Security Post, which is located at the KM 57 Rest Area of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, as well as monitoring traffic flow on the toll road, on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

The review was carried out to ensure the readiness of personnel and the smooth flow of traffic on the first day of the implementation of the Christmas and New Year Security Activity or Humanitarian Operation Nataru Lodaya 2025.

From the results of field monitoring, the West Java Police Chief said there was an increase in vehicle volume, especially in the rest area area. For this reason, he asked the manager to maximize the parking arrangement so that the rest area capacity could accommodate vehicles optimally and not cause congestion on the toll road.

"When we were at KM 57 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, from our observation, the rest area experienced an increase in vehicle volume. We have conveyed to the management to maximize the parking arrangement again so that the capacity is in accordance with what is expected," he said.

The Police Chief also said that based on the vehicle counting data, a total of 5,813 vehicles passed between 07.00 and 10.00 WIB. The majority of traffic flows come from Jakarta to the southern area of West Java, especially the direction of the Purbaleunyi Toll Road to Bandung and its surroundings.

This condition occurs because many people take advantage of the Christmas and New Year's holiday moments to visit each other or go on vacation to West Java.

Regarding the prediction of the peak of vehicle traffic, the West Java Police Chief said it would occur in two stages, namely before Christmas and before New Year.

"The peak flow prediction is likely to occur tomorrow for the first stage before Christmas, and the next stage before New Year. From the results of the survey, there are people who take advantage of Christmas, there are New Year's, and there are also those who take advantage of both," he said.

With intensive supervision and control, the West Java Police hope that traffic during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holidays can run safely, orderly, and smoothly, especially on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road and the Karawang area.

Meanwhile, during a visit to the Security Post at KM 57 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, the Police Chief was accompanied by a number of senior officials of the West Java Regional Police as well as the Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki Novian Ardiansyah.
