PANAJAM - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) has confirmed its commitment to strengthening the control of various illegal activities in the IKN area through the Illegal Activity Eradication Task Force. This step is taken to ensure that the development of IKN is lawful, safe, and sustainable.

Secretary of the IKN Authority Bimo Adi said the formation and strengthening of the task force was a concrete effort to regulate unauthorized activities in the IKN area, which is in part of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.

"The authority is committed to realizing IKN as a city that is lawful, safe, and sustainable for future generations," said Bimo Adi when met in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, December 17.

Throughout 2025, the Illegal Activity Countermeasures Task Force has carried out various activities, ranging from socialization and education to the public, installing prohibited signs at vulnerable points, to taking action against various forms of illegal activities in the IKN area.

The crackdown includes illegal activities in the social and community fields, enforcement of road traffic order, action against illegal mining practices, and handling violations in the field of land, such as the sale and purchase of state land and forest areas.

In addition, the IKN Authority also evaluated and drafted a work plan with a number of stakeholders to strengthen the control of illegal activities in 2026.

"We are evaluating and preparing a work plan with stakeholders so that the control of illegal activities will be more effective," explained Bimo.

The stakeholders include the TNI, Polri, Prosecutor's Office, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the East Kalimantan Provincial Government. This cross-sector collaboration is aimed at strengthening prevention and enforcement efforts in the IKN area.

According to Bimo, the evaluation was carried out to ensure that the development of IKN was carried out in accordance with the principles of good governance, sustainability, and legal justice. The results of the evaluation became the basis for the preparation of a more comprehensive work plan, including prevention, supervision, enforcement, and case resolution.
