West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Governor Mahyeldi reminded people in his province to anticipate the danger of subsequent disasters due to the high rainfall intensity that is still high until now.

Considering the potential for subsequent disasters, Mahyeldi asked people living around river basins, hill slopes and landslide-prone areas to temporarily evacuate to safer places, or to the nearest evacuation post until weather conditions improve.

"This is important to minimize risks. After the disaster in late November, many rivers experienced silting due to sediment from flash floods and have not yet been normalized, so it is very easy to overflow during heavy rains," said Mahyeldi.

He said that until now, the local government is still prioritizing the use of heavy equipment to open access roads in a number of disaster-affected areas, so that river normalization cannot be done to the maximum.

The BMKG Minangkabau Class II Meteorological Station has issued an early warning for weather for Monday (15/12/2025). BMKG estimates the potential for moderate to heavy rain which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds since noon in most of the West Sumatra region.

BMKG also set the alert status for 11 areas, namely the Mentawai Islands Regency, West Pasaman Regency, Pasaman Regency, Agam Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency, South Coast Regency, Solok, South Solok Regency, Dharmasraya Regency, and Padang Panjang City.
