Prabowo Acknowledges Difficulties in Disaster Areas, Promises Government to Work Hard

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto admitted the various difficulties faced by the community in disaster-affected areas in three provinces in Sumatra, but the President promised the government refugees to continue to work hard to overcome these difficulties.

"Insyaallah, together with the government, we will come down, we will help everyone. I apologize if there are still things that have not been handled. We are working hard," said President Prabowo to refugees in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Friday, December 12, reported by ANTARA.

President Prabowo also stated that currently the government together with all elements of society is going to the disaster-affected areas to help the refugees. The President hopes that this joint action can continue, so that people in disaster-affected areas can immediately rise.

"We are trying. We know that it is very difficult on the ground. So, we overcome it together. Hopefully, the community can recover quickly," said President Prabowo.

The refugee post in Aceh Tamiang Regency is President Prabowo's first destination in his three-day visit to Aceh, Friday, since flash floods and landslides hit a number of districts/cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, on November 25, 2025.

At the refugee post, President Prabowo's arrival was greeted enthusiastically by the public, including children who tried to approach the President to shake hands. The President also greeted one by one the refugees who approached him, then the President sat closer to the children.

The refugee children then greeted the President. Some of the children were hugged by the President and carried by the President.

Not only greeting the refugees, President Prabowo also checked the field hospital which was built in the refugee complex. The President greeted some refugees who were lying with infusions in their hands. During the meeting, the President encouraged them and prayed that they would soon recover.

President Prabowo also gave encouragement to doctors, nurses, and volunteers, who are working to help refugees.

In Aceh Tamiang, President Prabowo also saw firsthand the piles of wood that were carried away by flash floods and the houses of residents that were damaged by the flood.

From Aceh Tamiang, President Prabowo continued his journey to Takengon City in Central Aceh Regency and Bener Meriah Regency. After that, President Prabowo continued to fly to Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, and departed for the TNI AU Air Base (Air Base) Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta.

In Aceh, President Prabowo was accompanied by Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Secretary of State Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
