Mayor Agustina And Semarang City Forkopimda Ready To Realize A Safe Christmas And New Year Celebration

SEMARANG - The City Government or the Semarang City Government held a Forkopimda Coordination Meeting on Thursday (11/12) in preparation for security, public services, and stabilization of basic needs to welcome Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026. The meeting chaired directly by the Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng presents all elements of Forkopimda, OPD ranks, sub-district heads, village heads, as well as strategic partners such as Pertamina, Bulog, Bank Indonesia, BMKG, and other vertical agencies.

In his remarks, the Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng emphasized that year-end celebrations are a momentum that requires integrated readiness because the surge in human movement and city activities are expected to peak.

Semarang City as a transportation node is predicted to accommodate more than 2.5 million people during the Nataru holiday.

"Our job is to ensure that Semarang remains safe, comfortable, orderly, and warm for anyone who comes. Cross-sector coordination is the key so that people can celebrate Christmas and New Year peacefully," said Agustina.

Anticipate Disasters And Strengthen River Task Force

Agustina emphasized the importance of preparedness to face potential extreme weather, floods, puddles, and landslides. He re-explained the incident of damage to water pumps caused by large waste such as tires and mattresses that were sucked in by the engine, so that two pump units could not function. Therefore, he ordered the formation and strengthening of the River Cleaning Task Force in each region.

"Where there is a river, there must be a garbage task force. Don't wait for who throws it away. If the garbage has entered our area, immediately take it and clean it up," he said.

Waste And Transportation Supervision

The Semarang City Government has also reorganized the waste management system. The garbage transport truck ACC mechanism is now under the authority of the village head and sub-district head to be more accountable and in accordance with the service contract.

Meanwhile, in terms of transportation, the Polrestabes, Dishub, TNI, and related OPD have mapped out vulnerable points and established smooth posts to maintain smooth traffic flow during peak holidays.

Energy Supply And Food Price Stability

Agustina asked Pertamina to ensure the adequacy of fuel, especially for travelers and road users crossing the city of Semarang. Bulog, the Department of Food Security, and Bank Indonesia were also asked to take intervention steps to anticipate rising commodity prices, especially chilies and other staples that usually soar during Nataru.

The Semarang City Government also encourages coordination of public service posts, including homecoming posts and health posts. The mayor emphasized that food and drinks distributed to the public must meet food safety standards.

Facing Budget Contractions In 2026

In addition to focusing on facing the end of 2025, Agustina reminded Forkopimda officials that 2026 will be marked by a budget contraction due to a reduction in regional transfer funds of more than 440 billion rupiah. This requires the city government to carry out new strategies, efficiency, and stricter program priorities, especially in the infrastructure sector and disaster mitigation.

Through this Forkopimda Coordination Meeting, Agustina hopes to build strong synergies for all agencies as a foundation for security and comfort for residents during the series of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
