JAKARTA - The Genocide that killed more than 70,000 Gazans is a sign of the values mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been "deeply damaged", Turkish President said Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, atrocities in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories continue, despite all efforts by the international community," the Communications Directorate said, citing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement on Human Rights Day, quoted from Anadolu (10/12).

Medical sources confirmed on Wednesday that the death toll in the Gaza Strip had risen to 70,369, the majority of children and women, since the start of the Israeli attack on October 7, 2023, quoted from WAFA.

The same source explained that the number of injured victims had risen to 171,069 since the start of the attack, while a number of victims were still trapped under the rubble, inaccessible to ambulances and rescue teams.

Meanwhile, the total number of deaths and injuries since the ceasefire agreement on October 10, 2025 has reached 379, while 992 others have been injured and 627 bodies have been found.

President Erdogan said the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights representing values and achievements with mankind still maintains its character as a global commitment to protecting the rights of each individual since birth.

However, he noted that the rules and principles contained in the declaration were violated in many parts of the world, while concepts such as peace and justice continued to lose their foothold.

"It is the shared responsibility of all mankind to rebuild Gaza as soon as possible, as the region has been destroyed into a huge pile of debris," President Erdogan said.

The President added that the path to a just and lasting peace in Gaza lies in strengthening the ceasefire, which has been established by Turkey's contribution and implementing the Two-State Solution.

He added that Israel continued to show its neglect of law and order, violating a ceasefire with attacks that have killed at least 370 Palestinians since October 11.

"It is imperative for the international community to increase pressure on Israel to prevent Gaza from re-engaging in conflict," said the Turkish President.
