East Java Police Chief Removes Tuban Police Chief Examined By Propam

SURABAYA - East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto removed AKBP William Cornelis Tanasale from the position of Tuban Police Chief. Inspector General Nanang appointed Grand Commissioner Setyo Nugroho as the executor of the task.

Based on the documents circulating, the removal was stated in a warrant numbered Sprin/2611/XII/KEP/2025 signed by the East Java Police Chief on Monday, December 8, 2025.

In the letter, it was stated that AKBP William was ordered to carry out his duties as Pamen Polda East Java. Meanwhile, the task of the police at the Tuban Police is temporarily led by Kombes Agung.

The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, confirmed the temporary suspension of AKBP William because he was undergoing an internal examination by the Police Professional and Security Division (Propam).

"AKBP WT [William] is currently undergoing further investigation and investigation by Propam regarding the information received. As part of the procedure, the person concerned has been temporarily dismissed from his duties until the inspection process is complete," he said in Surabaya, Tuesday, December 9.

Jules emphasized that community services in the jurisdiction of the Tuban Resort Police (Polres) will continue with the appointment of Kombes Agung as a temporary replacement official.

"Kombes Agung is a temporary replacement to ensure that services to the community at the Resort Police continue to run properly," he said.

Regarding the alleged levy or cuts in the operational budget as stated in the circulating letter, Jules has not been able to provide further explanation.

"Propam is conducting further investigations and investigations regarding the information received. We will convey further information after the process is complete," he said.
