JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that the tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 that occurred in Simeulue, Aceh on Tuesday, at 14:02 WIB did not have the potential to be vaccinated.

BMKG Director of Earthquake and Tsunami Daryono said, from the results of the analysis, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 2.52 degrees LU - 95.92 degrees East Longitude, or precisely located in the sea 50 km northwest of Sinabang, Aceh at a depth of 26 km.

By paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow type of earthquake due to the subduction of the Indo-Australian Plate under the Eurasian Plate.

The results of the analysis of the source mechanism show that the earthquake has an upward sliding mechanism.

The earthquake was felt in the Simeulue area with an intensity scale of III - IV MMI, South Aceh area with an intensity scale of III MMI, and the Southwest Aceh region with an intensity scale of II - III MMI.

So far, there have been no reports of damage caused by the earthquake. The modeling results show that the earthquake has no potential for a tsunami.

"As of 14.07 WIB, the results of BMKG monitoring have not shown any aftershock activity," he said.
