Old Revenge Explodes In Central Market: 2 Perpetrators Stab Victims In Front Of The Mayor Of Gorontalo Surrender

GORONTALO - Two suspected perpetrators of the persecution used sharp weapons whose actions had occurred in front of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gorontalo surrendered to the Gorontalo City Police.

Gorontalo City Police Chief Kombes Suryono said that moments after the incident in the Central Market area of Gorontalo City on Saturday, December 6, two men with the initials AR and AR came to the Mapolresta to account for their actions.

"Both of them, both with the initials AR, have been named as suspects for alleged violations of Article 170 and Article 22," said Suryono as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 9.

At the time of the incident, the Mayor of Gorontalo Adhan Dambea and Deputy Mayor Indra Gobel were at the location and had witnessed the incident firsthand.

Based on the examination, the act of persecution was triggered by an old grudge. Prior to the incident, the victim was said to have offended one of the perpetrators through uploads on social media. Feeling offended, the two suspects came to the victim in the Central Market area.

One of the perpetrators then abused the victim using a knife with seven slashes and three stabs into various parts of the body. The post-mortem showed the victim suffered nine injuries to his head, body, hands, and feet.

To further explore the motives and issues that are widely discussed by the public, the Gorontalo City Police Satreskrim will ask for statements from the Mayor Adhan Dambea and Deputy Mayor Indra Gobel as witnesses.

Two suspects are currently being held along with evidence of a knife at the Gorontalo City Police cell.

Suryono menegaskan bahwa pihaknya menangani kasus tersebut dengan profesional dan humanis sesuai ketentuan hukum. Ia juga mengimbau masyarakat agar tetap tenang dan tidak mudah terprovokasi oleh informasi yang belum terverifikasi.

Suryono emphasized that his party handled the case professionally and humanely in accordance with legal provisions. He also appealed to the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked by unverified information.

"If you see or experience actions that violate the law, immediately report them to the nearest police personnel," he said.
