The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Yangon, Myanmar immediately repatriated a number of Indonesian citizens (WNI) related to online scams and online gambling (judol) in the country to the country.
In his statement, Monday (8/12), the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon said that 56 Indonesian citizens affected by the operation to control the online scam and online gaming centers in the KK Park and Shwe Kokko areas, Myawaddy, began to be moved today to Mae Sot, Thailand, as the initial stage of the repatriation process to Indonesia.
The Indonesian citizens are part of more than 300 Indonesian citizens who have been under the supervision of Myanmar authorities since law enforcement operations began on October 22, 2025, said the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.
"Today's transfer marks the first stage of a series of repatriations of hundreds of other Indonesian citizens," added the Indonesian Embassy.
The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon further said that the transfer process was the result of long negotiations and intensive coordination with the Myanmar authorities, as well as technical support from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok for cross-border and flight processes.
Previously, the Indonesian Embassy had conducted data collection, identity verification, biometric recording, and direct health checks at the location in early December to ensure that Indonesian citizens were ready to be sent home.
After arriving at Mae Sot, Indonesian citizens are scheduled to be flown to Indonesia on December 9, 2025 via the Bangkok - Soekarno Hatta International Airport route using commercial flights.
The process of moving today was carried out under the escort of the Myanmar authorities, given Myawaddy's dynamic and uncertain security situation.
