KENDARI - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is preparing sanctions for several mining companies operating in Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra) for alleged tax arrears or violations.

The Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum), Anang Supriatna, stated that based on data, more than five mining companies will be subject to administrative sanctions and fines.

"There are approximately five companies that will be subject to administrative sanctions and fines," Anang said while accompanying Attorney General Burhanuddin in Kendari, Antara reported, Monday, December 8.

According to Anang, the sanctions were imposed after a team from the Attorney General's Office, along with the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (PKH), consisting of members of the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the forestry department, conducted field inspections.

He said the PKH Task Force team had visited several mining company locations operating in Southeast Sulawesi.

"The results of the visit indicate that several companies have been recorded and are being processed," Anang said.

Anang added that Attorney General Burhanuddin's visit to Southeast Sulawesi aimed to inspect the condition of prosecutors' offices, such as the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office, the Konawe District Attorney's Office, and the Kendari District Attorney's Office.

In addition, Burhanuddin also monitored the handling of ongoing corruption cases and assessed personnel, facilities, and infrastructure needs for improvement.

"So, to see what performance achievements are, this will be used as evaluation material by the leadership," Anang said.

Burhanuddin was scheduled to first visit the Konawe District Attorney's Office before continuing his visit to the Kendari District Attorney's Office in the afternoon.
