Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Affirms Fleet Modernization To Accelerate Service Transformation

Semarang - Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng emphasized the commitment of the City Government or the Semarang City Government to accelerate fleet modernization and strengthen service transformation in the Trans Semarang public transportation system, in line with strict evaluation of all technical and operational aspects.

"Trans Semarang must provide the best service, be safe, and meet strict eligibility standards. There should be no compromise on safety," said Agustina Wilujeng recently.

BLU UPTD Trans Semarang, as a technical operator, called Agustina Wilujeng, has carried out stricter fleet feasibility verification.

The examination was carried out through physical checks and documents, including daily checks before the fleet was released to the service line.

"The Semarang City Government ensures that every Trans Semarang fleet, both government-owned and consortium-owned, really meets Minimum Service Standards," he said.

The check is part of the fleet modernization process which is expected to be able to improve security standards.

As exemplified by the Mayor, BLU officers are required to have a light ramp check every morning.

If technical disturbances or indications of trouble are found, the fleet will immediately be handed over to the operator's mechanics for repairs.

In addition, he asked that before the bus returned to the service list, Trans Semarang officers re-checked to ensure all units were roadworthy.

Agustina Wilujeng also emphasized that the evaluation mechanism was not an administrative formality.

The Semarang Trans must be managed professionally. If there is a fleet that does not pass the due diligence, the operator must replace or fix it according to contract terms," he explained.

This policy, according to him, is important to maintain quality consistency and support the transformation of services as a whole.

In addition to fleet inspections, Trans Semarang must also continue to strengthen the quality of human resources through regular training.

BLU needs to ensure that training for drivers and crew is carried out regularly following the set service standards.

"The modernization of the fleet must be accompanied by modernization of HR competencies. Trans Semarang drivers and crew must have good service quality, understand routes, and be ready in emergency conditions," said Agustina Wilujeng.

On the management side, Agustina said that BLU has also monitored operational expenses, including subsidies, BOKs, and evaluation of operator contracts.

The monitoring, according to Agustina, became the government's basis in ensuring that the addition of the fleet was stable and did not burden the quality of service.

"Trans Semarang must maintain efficiency without reducing service standards. Service transformation must not stop just because of budget challenges," explained the Mayor.

In further steps from the BLU Trans Semarang report, Agustina Wilujeng hopes that solid corridors such as Corridors I, II, III, IV, and VIII will continue to apply special supervision strategies regularly.

Corridor tersebut menjadi titik penumpang terbesar sehingga membutuhkan pendiplin jadwal, kelandalangan fleet, dan kesiapan crew.

Evaluation must also be carried out periodically to ensure operational reliability and maintain the mobility rhythm of the people who depend on Trans Semarang.

Technically, the strategy includes increased coordination between pools, adjustment of headway management, and data collection of fleet modernization needs in corridors that absorb the most passengers.

All these steps, said Agustina Wilujeng, are directed to encourage the transformation of Trans Semarang services to be more responsive to public needs.

The Mayor of Semarang at the same time reiterates that the city government provides full support for strengthening the public transportation system.

He assessed that fleet modernization is a foundation that cannot be postponed any longer. "Public transportation must continue to advance to class. Trans Semarang must be the face of city services that are safe, worthy, and proud of its citizens," he said.

With increased technical supervision, strengthening crew competence, structuring operational management, and special strategies in solid corridors, Trans Semarang is expected to be able to accelerate fleet modernization as well as perfect service transformation.
