The Board Of Trustees Has Determined Alim Setiawan Slamet To Be The Chancellor Of IPB

BOGOR - The Board of Trustees (MWA) of IPB University in the plenary session decided to elect the Chancellor of IPB University Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet STP, MSI, replacing Prof Arif Satria, who since last month has served as Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

IPB University Director of Cooperation, Communication and Marketing Alfian Helmi explained that MWA IPB University on Friday officially chose Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet as Chancellor of IPB University for Inter-Time Replacement (PAW) for the 2025-2028 period.

This decision was made through the MWA Closed Plenary Session with the agenda of the IPB PAW Chancellor Election and Determination, which took place at the Baranangsiang IPB Campus, Bogor.

Reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 5, the decision marked a new leadership milestone at IPB University as a follow-up to the resignation of Prof. Arif Satria from the position of Chancellor of IPB for the 2023 period 2028, which counted November 10, 2025 Prof. Arif was appointed President Prabowo as Head of BRIN.

Previously, the MWA had issued Decree Number 12 of 2025 concerning the Dismissal of the IPB Chancellor for the 2023 period of 2028. This decision was then submitted by the Chairman of the MWA on November 18, 2025 to the Chair of the IPB Academic Senate (SA) to be followed up in accordance with applicable regulations.

As a follow-up to SA IPB through Letter Number 62451/IT3.SA/TU/P/B/2025 dated December 1, 2025, regarding the Determination of the IPB PAW Chancellor Candidate, conveying three names of the rector candidates: 1. Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, STP, MSi2. Prof drh Deni Noviana, PhD, DAICVIM3. Prof Dr. Iskandar Z Siregar, MForSc, IPU, ASEAN Eng.

Based on the results of the MWA IPB Plenary Session, Dr Alim Setiawan Slametter was selected as Chancellor of IPB University to continue various strategic institutions. This selection was carried out based on the PAW mechanism regulated in the IPB University Statute.

The elected IPB Chancellor will be sworn in by the Board of Trustees on December 11, 2025.

Head of MWA IPB University Prof Hardinsyah congratulated the election of Dr Alim Setiawan.

"We believe he is able to continue the visionary leadership and bring IPB University further advanced," he said.

He explained that during his tenure, Dr. Alim Setiawan as the Chancellor of PAW from the date of inauguration to the end of the rector's term of office was replaced.

Prof Hardinsyah said that Dr. Alim was elected through deliberation and consensus.

"So it's not a vote, it means we are a joke, we understand the values applied and this is very proud. I think we need to be grateful together as the IPB extended family in determining the IPB Chancellor," he said.

IPB Chancellor Dr Alim Setiawan conveyed the main five dimensions for the direction of university development.

First, how can all universities prioritize quality because university duties are to produce innovation and superior human resources and have high employability," he said.

The second dimension is inclusiveness. "We must expand access without discrimination, be more socially friendly, and strengthen multi-stakeholders engagement," he said.

He emphasized the relevance as the third dimension. "Every innovation and research results must be relevant to the government's Astacita national program, relevant to agromartim as acore competencyIPB University, as well as alink and match with the needs of society and industry," he said.

The fourth dimension is adaptive to the changing times. "Universities must be adaptive, including IPB, because we are facing the AI era. We must encourage the feature skills set. I hope lecturers, employees, and students can become global leaders," he said.

The fifth dimension, related to impact sustainability. "Universities must have a real impact. The tagline is that the campus has an impact. IPB University must be a solution to community problems, help industry, and be in line with the extraordinary achievements of SDGs and ESG," said Alim.

Alim Setiawan Slamet is a lecturer in Production and Operations at the Management Department. He graduated from the S-1 Department of Agricultural Industry Technology at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology IPB, then graduated from the same Department and Faculty, while the S-3 was achieved from the Agribusiness and Agricultural Economic Department from the University of Ehime Japan.
